Trans-Formations live - a Brilliant and Dark remix album (2012),
released September 1, 2016
By Umit Armagan. Ümit Armağan has taken the ‘Transition’ theme from the Remix Score and, suitably, created a new work by repeatedly transforming it texturally.
“A composer and musician based in London, I was born in Turkey and initially started music as a guitarist. I have been composing since 1998, and until 2008 my styles included songs from authentic folk-based tunes to modern rock genres. Since then, after meeting with composer Paul Sarcich, I have gradually moved into classical western style and between 2007 - 2010 I took Harmony-counterpoint, Orchestration and Composition lessons with him.
I am currently studying for my final year of BMus Composition at the London College of Music, where my interests range from Baroque to Post-tonal eras. My latest works include a Fugue for string trio (Fugue in D minor), a string quartet (One City, one Cave and Two Hallows) and a piece for Mezzo-Soprano and nine piece ensemble (Down the Dalston Lane). Having started from 2006, I continue to teach guitar and music theory to children and adults at various levels and propose his students to graded music exams.” - Ümit Armağan
